The organization distributes 2000 food packets daily in M.Y. hospital and 5 other charitable hospitals daily. To produce one packet our cost is Rs.8, but we provide the food packets for a minimum price of Rs.1 so that the needy person who is buying the food packet does not feel that this a charity or donation, but that he/she has bought the food packet himself with his own money.
The organization distributes these food packets mainly to the family and attendants of the patients admitted to the hospital. As these poor people come from different villages and small towns surroundingIndore they don not have any means to cook food. So, they tend to cook on temporary stove ‘chulas’ or have to pay high prices in nearby food shops. To curb the pollution, waste, and littering caused by this activity, we provide them food packets at Rs.1 so that they can take care of their dear ones without worrying about food.
The organization has adopted 25 NGOs which are running residential institutes for different people and children of the blind school, old age home, mentally retarded, deaf and dumb, physically challenged and other organizations.
The organization provides them food whenever they are short of donations or do not have any financial arrangements to provide food to their residents.
The organization is situated in an area called ‘Navlakha’ in Indore. In history, decades ago this area had 9 lakh trees which translate to ‘Nav’ meaning 9 and ‘lakha’ meaning Lakh. Hence this it has been rich in flora and fauna. To preserve that, we provide water and 150 kg of different types of grains daily on the roof of our building. The roof has an area of3000 sqft. and acts as a field for the birds and other small animals to feed themselves.
The organization is also promoting people of Indore at large to do the same activity at their residence’ roofs and balconies for the birds in different areas. To promote this, we supply the public with water pots and trays to keep grains.
The organization distributes tokens of Rs.1 to the Kirana and pan shop owner who instead of giving money to beggars can give the token instead. Through this token, the beggars and needy can get a complete food packet. So, this process ensures that the needy and beggars get food for their survival and do not misuse the added fund of Rs.7 by the organization as the cost of the food packet is Rs.8. So, a shopkeeper by buying a token of Rs. 1 from us ends up doing charity of Rs.8 and also ensures that it not misused for any other purpose as the beggar can only get a food packet from the token provided. Otherwise, if the shopkeeper gives cash to the beggars, they many use money in wrong habits like tobacco, alcohol, etc. Hence, at the end of the day shopkeeper will be the part of ‘Paap’ instead of ‘Punya’.
Also, the disturbance of many of the beggars will reduce to only some beggars who really needs food. Our distribution channels being in different areas of the city ensure our main object that ‘Nobody should sleep hungry in the city’.
